Apple has already announced a December release for iOS 18.2, and it now seems likely that the update will arrive on Monday, December 9, according to reports from the British operator EE (formerly Everything Everywhere).

An implicit date

In a recent customer advisory, EE said it would discontinue the “Wi-Fi Calling on Other Supported iCloud Connected Devices” feature on December 9. This feature allows users to make Wi-Fi calls on devices like iPads and Macs, even when their iPhone isn’t nearby. The timing of this announcement corresponds to changes made to the latest developer beta of iOS 18.2, which includes an updated version of EE Carrier Settings that removes the enable button for this feature found in France among all operators, Free Mobile being the last to have activated it.

Carrier settings updates often accompany iOS releases, suggesting that EE may have indirectly revealed the release date of iOS 18.2.

An iOS 18.2 release on December 9 would make sense, as Apple often releases updates on Mondays and the rest of December is usually frozen due to the holiday season.
