If at any time you decided to buy a locator Apple's AirTag, due to its functions, its price, and the good product it is, you surely realized something that, previously, you may not have thought about, and that is the issue of the battery, since it does not have one like that of the iPhone.

The AirTag has CR2032 batteries, that is, the same as the analog watches that everyone wore before technology entered our lives so much. However, why does this happen? Does Apple want us to spend money on batteries so we can charge the device? Let's see the reason.

Advantages of AirTags using a replaceable battery instead of a rechargeable battery

And, logically, if Apple manufactures its AirTag in this way, it is because it is the best of all, since they are a company that could make the product to their specifications without a problem. Others, like Ugreen, do have locators that operate using a cable and a battery chargebut the apple company, no.

This is due to several reasons, however, the most logical and why they do it this way is because a battery is much simpler to replace, since it does not degrade, and, therefore, the product is almost “infinite.” This cannot be done with a cell phone, since the battery consumption would be very high, even with rechargeable ones, but it can be done with an AirTag that lasts between 12 and 18 months.

In addition, the cost of the product is cheaper, since manufacturing a battery is somewhat more expensive than simply doing nothing, and it is the user who buys it externally (despite the fact that the former is included in the AirTag).

Therefore, it has its logic, and although many people prefer everything with a battery, The fact that such a locator has batteries makes it cheaper and more durable.so it's a very understandable reason for Apple to do this.

The heat, the extreme conditions and the lifespan would cause the battery to degrade, potentially leaving us stranded in a moment of need, since its autonomy would not last as long as when we bought it. Using batteries avoids this, since when you throw it away and put in a new one, the product is “new” again, even though the previous one has suffered a lot.

There are devices Asian brands that do have batteriesas we said, so if you are looking for an alternative, it exists, but for now it seems that not even the next AirTag 2 will have it, so we will not have many options, at least official, to not use a battery.

Ugreen locator card

Ugreen, as we said, has a very interesting card that uses a battery, but it is normal, since due to dimensions, if they wanted to do it in card format, they could not use a battery, since it would be very thick, and they had to implement this, passing the cost on to the customer, since it is worth twice as much as their other product in “AirTag” format, so you see one of the problems with this.

And you, are you battery powered or battery powered? Leave us a comment with your opinion, and the reason.
