Pokémon enthusiasts will have something to celebrate this holiday season with the “Fabulous Island” expansion launched in Pokémon Pocket on December 17, 2024. After the success of “Genetic Power”, this update introduces nearly a hundred new collectible cards, including the legendary Mew!
86 new trading cards
“Fabulous Island” brings a refreshing update to the Pokémon Pocket universe, with a collection of 86 unique cards. The main set includes 68 cards, ranging from common EX cards to highly sought-after EX cards. Dedicated collectors can chase 18 secret cards, which are the crown jewels of this expansion.
Among these rare cards, players can find 6 Rare Illustration cards representing iconic Pokémon like Noadkoko, Majaspic and Aquali. The expansion also offers 8 Full Art cards, including 5 dedicated to legendary Pokémon and 3 to Trainers. The luckiest players will be able to obtain the two Alternative Rare cards Ptéra EX and Mew EX. The pinnacle of rarity is represented by the Immersive Rare card from Celebi EX and a Gold Rare card from Mew EX.
A reinvented rewards system
Alongside new maps, Fabulous Island introduces a new mission system, rewarding players who complete their collections. Green Shop Tickets, exclusive to this series, unlock themed accessories inspired by Mew and the jungle atmosphere of the island.
For battle enthusiasts, two new single-player challenges have been added, aimed at experienced trainers focused on “Plant”-type Pokémon. These challenges at Hard and Expert levels offer substantial rewards, including Booster Hourglasses and Sparkling Powders.
Optimized user interface
The arrival of the “Fabulous Island” update also brings interface improvements. The home screen now clearly distinguishes between the new expansion’s boosters and those from “Genetic Power”. The functionality Miracle Draw now includes content from “The Fabulous Island”, increasing the chance of obtaining rare cards thanks to a more targeted card pool.
For those more interested in strategy than collecting, “Fabulous Island” enhances gameplay with new deck-building options and introduces expanded combat mechanics for both single-player and multiplayer modes.
Special Launch Event
To celebrate the launch, Pokémon Pocket is hosting a special event to coincide with the holiday season. From December 17 to 20, 2024, players can claim up to 36 Booster Hourglasses for free. These virtual currencies reduce waiting times between opening boosters and are distributed over three days with 12 hourglasses distributed each day. These can be used in any expansion of the game, which is not insignificant.
