Google is currently testing blue check certification to easily recognize an official page when searching on the internet. A well-known system, abandoned by X and yet extremely effective.
Good idea
The tech world is often criticized for not doing enough to protect users from the dangers of the internet. This is why Google is currently experimenting with a new method to know at a glance if it is the official site and not a carbon copy that is harming you.
In the spirit of what previously existed on Twitter, the goal would be to certify official businesses with a little blue checkmark when searching the web. So, if you type for example Apple, a small blue logo next to the company name would immediately give us the information that it is the official site and therefore that we can go there in complete security .

A clever idea that we even wonder why it hasn’t been in place for years. Google could also take advantage of this to announce that its browser is the most secure for browsing the web thanks to this feature.
As pointed out The Vergeonly the most globally known companies are currently certified and this for a small number of users. Apple, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, Epic Games… Logical given that these are the platforms which attract the most people even if in the event of generalization of the functionality, the list will have to be greatly expanded.
For the more novice, hovering over this blue checkmark will display a pop-up window indicating its usefulness. Enough to ensure that everyone can use it correctly. All that remains is to wait to see if Google will make the decision to officially launch or abandon the idea.
