If you have an iPhone, and a car compatible with CarPlay (or you have bought an external one), there are thousands of apps for this system, although almost everyone uses this device with the native ones, since just being able to listen to music and use Maps is enough.
However, today I am going to bring you the 3 applications that I use the most and that they do not come installed, that is, you will have to download them to be able to use them, and obviously they will not be Apple Music or Apple Maps, since those, as we said, are the ones that everyone uses.
Best apps for CarPlay
Obviously, none of them are crazy that no one knows about and super exclusive, since for a car we can have little, but I do like them a lot, since I use them daily and they do not come with the iPhone or CarPlay itself, so many may not know about them and may also end up using them.
- waze: This is the app that is never missing in my car. It helps you navigate the streets with real-time information about traffic, accidents or even speed cameras. It may seem very similar to Maps, but it is much more complete, faster, and informs you of things that Apple's does not do. All taxi drivers and truck drivers use it, there must be a reason. If you have never tried it, we recommend it, both for CarPlay and to use as a navigator on your iPhone.
- Audible: If you like listening to audiobooks or podcasts, it is the perfect app. Sometimes we get tired of the radio and music, and we want something different, so you can have hours of interesting talks or books that you haven't read yet on your CarPlay very easily. Plus, if you have Amazon Prime, you can access much more free content.
- TuneIn Radio: Most radios, despite being national, are not tuned everywhere, so if you are from Cadena Dial, la Ser, or any channel, you will be able to listen to it over the internet without needing to tune the frequency, so you will hear it much better, without noise, and anywhere, even outside of Spain. It hardly consumes data, so don't worry about this, since with little coverage you will be able to listen to them. Of course, they will have a little more delay than if you do it directly through FM.
The best thing about these applications is that they are not only available in CarPlay, but, logically, we can have them on our iPhone, so we can also listen to any station, or put on a podcast to sleep, without having to be in the car. In addition, they are all free, and we will not have to pay for their use, although in Audible we can have paid content.

And you, do you know any other app that is essential for your daily life in CarPlay? Leave us a comment with it so we can discover it, and how it works. We do not have many of these installed, and we are not aware of how interesting they are until we try them.
