Even though Apple It is a company that is characterized by not making layoffs, showing a mutual commitment to the workers. In this case, things change, and the latest news that we receive is not really good for these employees.

Apparently, according to sources such as Bloomberg, Apple would have started a round of layoffs in certain areas of your companywhich can cause many employees, or even investors, to be concerned about what is happening in that sector.

Layoffs of Apple employees

Apple has laid off dozens of employees in its sales team to simplify how you market your products to businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies. According to Bloomberg and MacRumors, the cuts mainly affect account managers for large corporate clients, schools and public organizations, as well as staff at the presentation centers (“briefing centers”) that Apple uses for meetings and demonstrations.

Employees have been informed in recent weeks and, although the news has taken them by surprise, Apple has offered them the option to apply for other positions within the company. Those who do not find a new role before January 20 will receive a severance package, so they are not really left “stranded”, despite the fact that many, for personal reasons, cannot accept another position, and must leave.

From Apple they explain that these changes are part of a restructuring to better connect with customers: “we want to reach more people, so we are adjusting some roles in the sales team,” they have said, and they have made it clear that they continue hiring.

But some employees believe that the real reason is another: Apple would be transferring part of its sales to external retailers, which would allow it to reduce salary costs. This strategy of selling more through distributors could be driving the elimination of internal positions.

In short: it is not a massive layoff or a drastic cut, but it is a significant maneuver to reorganize the sales structure. Apple says it is to improve commercial efficiency, while some workers believe that the objective is to delegate more sales to third parties and thus reduce costs.

Be that as it may, many of these workers will have to adapt to a new position, or accept compensation that will depend, to a certain extent, on the time they have been in the company, so for many it will not be a consolation, losing that position that they were interested in.

We'll see how everything ends, and if Apple continues restructuring the company, or leaves it like this for a while. Be that as it may, we understand that it is the best for the company and the consumers, so we hope that everything ends well, and there are not many victims.

And you, what do you think of this type of strategy? Do you think Apple is right to offer them a new position somewhere else? Surely many companies would not do that, so it is a point in their favor, given how tedious this news can be for some employees.
