Like every month, Apple releases updates for all its systems. Sometimes, they come with few improvements, and focused more on security patches. However, in others, we can see important changesboth aesthetically and functionally, very interesting for the user.
Today, we will talk about iOS 26.2the most powerful version that we have left during 2025, and that has at least 8 main changes that you will have to know about, not only to decide whether to install it or not, but so that you are not caught by surprise, since there are some very curious ones.
Changes in iOS 26.2: what it brings
The version will arrive in December, and will be the last important one of the year, leaving iOS 26.3, and iOS 26.4 (the most anticipated), for even the spring, so it is interesting to install this at the end of 2025, and enjoy everything it brings, as well as protect ourselves against breaches and security problems.
Let's review its characteristics in summary:
- “Liquid Glass” control on the lock screen: You can now adjust the transparency level of the clock effect to make it look sharper or blurred, giving a more personal touch to your screen without changing the background.
- New sleep rating scale: The Health app updates the way it measures and classifies rest, with more precise ranges and a reading that is more consistent with your actual habits.
- Screen flashing option for notifications: In addition to the classic rear flash, the iPhone screen can flash when you receive an alert. It is ideal if you have the phone on silent or want a visual warning without sound (something very common in Android systems).
- Offline Song Lyrics on Apple Music: The lyrics no longer depend on the internet, you can see them even if you don't have a connection, something useful when traveling or when using airplane mode. This could attract Spotify users, for example.
- “Urgent” Reminders: Reminders can now be set to sound like an alarm, making them much harder to ignore and perfect for critical tasks.
- Automatic chapters and timed links in Apple Podcasts: Episodes are automatically divided by topic, and now you can share or jump to an exact moment with a link. Links to other podcasts mentioned are also shown.
- Redesigned “Following” tab in Apple News: includes shortcuts to popular topics such as sports, politics or entertainment, making it easy to discover content without having to search as hard.
- Live translation for AirPods in the European Union: Compatible AirPods can now translate conversations in real time thanks to an expansion of the Live Translation feature, which was previously only available in some countries. Of course, with compatible devices.
These are quite a few new features for a simple extra version of the system, so if you were hesitant to install it or not, now you have a better idea. Furthermore, although it is not mentioned, optimizations, better battery consumption, security, and small bug fixes are always present, so it will not only depend on new functions or changes.
