Just like the US, the UK now has iPhone Satellite SOS for roadside assistance. After personal assistance, this service is now capable of repairing a broken down car in an area where it is impossible to make an ordinary call.
Roadside Assistance hits UK roads
Apple announced it during the presentation of the iPhone 16, it is now official, emergency SOS by satellite on the road is now activated on the roads of the United Kingdom. A system that allows iPhone users to contact outage services in areas without cellular coverage. The famous white zones in which 4G and 5G are not detected by the iPhone.
Apple has also partnered with Green Flag, a British provider of roadside assistance and vehicle recovery. The company is responsible for providing assistance to all users in road emergency situations who contact assistance via satellite emergency SOS.
Please note that if the person does not subscribe to the Green Flag troubleshooting service, additional costs will be payable for the assistance provided. According to the support page Recently updated, Apple is offering two years of satellite roadside assistance with the purchase of an iPhone 14, 15 or 16 through the Apple Online Store or retail stores.
How does it work?
Just open the app Messages from the iPhone then type “roadside” in a new discussion. An assistance option is then displayed on the screen and all you have to do is follow the steps to contact the repairer. Clear skies are greatly appreciated to ensure good satellite transmission.
Soon in France?
After the United States, it is now the United Kingdom’s turn to benefit from this revolutionary feature. Hopefully France is next on the list. In the meantime, SOS via satellite has still been available in France since December 2022. iOS 18 has also added video to emergency SOS calls.
