Apple introduced a new feature in macOS Sequoia 15.2, available in the latest developer beta, that allows users to add a Weather widget to the menu bar. This update also includes additional Apple Intelligence features and is currently in second beta, alongside iOS 18.2.
By default, the Weather widget is not enabled in macOS 15.2, so you have to add it manually. To activate it:
- Open the System Settings app.
- Go to Control Center.
- Find the Weather option and select it to display it in the menu bar.
Once added, the current temperature appears in the menu bar. Clicking the icon displays a detailed Weather widget, offering more information, including current conditions and hourly forecasts. This design is reminiscent of the Notification Center widget in versions of macOS X, those prior to Big Sur. There’s also a button to open the full Weather app.
Other new features in macOS Sequoia 15.2
In addition to the Weather widget, macOS 15.2 introduces several improvements related to Apple Intelligence, currently reserved for American users, such as Image Playgrounds and ChatGPT integration. You can also subscribe to ChatGPT Plus from the system with the latest version of macOS.
Although this beta was initially only compatible with Macs with M1 chips and newer models, it is now available for all Macs compatible with macOS Sequoia.
Apple has announced that the public release of macOS Sequoia 15.2 is scheduled for December.
