In recent weeks, we have seen how car brands that currently did not have all Apple services are joining and integrating them, such as Volkswagen, who would have supported Apple Watch to open and close certain types of models, only with the watch.

Today, we received another good news, and that is that apparently, the Teslasdespite having their own systems, also will natively integrate CarPlayfor all those iPhone users accustomed to this OS, who can enjoy it.

Teslas will have CarPlay

Tesla is preparing compatibility with Apple CarPlay in their cars. According to Bloomberg, the company has begun internal tests to allow drivers to connect their iPhones and use their favorite apps more easily, something that many owners have asked for for years, since currently only Tesla's own system worked.

The function would be available “in the coming months”, although there is no confirmed date yet. It is not the most advanced version of CarPlay, but the standard and wireless one, enough for apps like Maps, Music and Messages to work fluidly inside the car, just like if we bought external equipment, but without the need to do so, and adapted to Tesla itself already.

CarPlay would not completely replace Tesla's interface. It would be integrated as a window into the car's main screen, allowing users to maintain access to the functions of the Tesla system while using their iPhone applications, so it would be a mix of both, since, although CarPlay has many apps, it does not manage the vehicle's air conditioning, for example, for which it would be necessary to continue using the Tesla interface.

One of the reasons behind this decision appears to be simply to attract more buyers. Many users have pointed out that the lack of CarPlay in Tesla was a negative point compared to other cars that do include it. With this integration, iPhone drivers could use their favorite apps more conveniently, making the driving experience more familiar and enjoyable.

However, the function still is in the testing phaseso its launch could be delayed or even canceled. Tesla is known for tweaking or scrapping features before they reach the public, so interested drivers will have to wait for official confirmations. Best of all, it is not necessary to buy a new model, and through software updates, they could provide compatibility with all current cars (or those you want).

If Tesla finally implements CarPlay, it would be a major change in the way it does things. Until now, the company has kept its infotainment system fairly closed, controlling every detail of the in-car experience. With CarPlay, drivers would have more freedom to use their own apps and that would mark a rather interesting turn in their software strategy.

And you, do you think it was a partnership that should have been made before? Have you thought about buying a Tesla, or not, for this reason? Leave us a comment with your opinion about it.
