Monument Valley has made a name for itself since its run in the House of Cards series in 2016, largely justified by its approach setting new standards in the puzzle genre. After a disappointing second chapter, the thirty developers of ustwo games therefore had the pressure for the third opus, and the least we can say is that Monument Valley 3 does not disappoint.

An inspiring story
Monument Valley 3’s narrative explores themes of hope, loss, and independence. Although it doesn’t rely on in-depth dialogue, the game still masterfully conveys its emotions through delicate animations and character interactions, allowing players to immerse themselves in a decaying world, where rising waters threaten general stability. You, Noor, are now alone, responsible for helping others and bringing light to a world in disarray.
The visual aesthetic is inspired by contemporary art, with levels that evoke chaotic flowering and origami designs, marking a contrast to the clean lines of previous games.
Just once, it’s a perfect excuse to play with perspective to try to solve puzzles, each one more intelligent than the next.

Neat gameplay
Monument Valley 3’s gameplay is carefully structured; the first stages gently introduce players to the perspective-based puzzles, the very essence of the saga. As you progress, the puzzles become more and more complex, encouraging you to scan the screen for subtle clues that guide your progress.
Unlike the 2017 sequel, which didn’t innovate enough, this new title introduces significant changes, including aquatic levels and natural elements that reflect ecological and personal themes. The innovation is clear: the water rises, submerging the series’ iconic structures, and players navigate across bodies of water, symbolizing a visual and narrative renewal. The game then mixes traditional, rigid maze-like structures with more open-ended levels, like those where you run through fields of wheat, altering your approach to problem-solving.
© NetflixThe other new feature of MV3 is the inclusion of navigation segments in certain chapters, where you navigate through sometimes turbulent waters to connect puzzles or explore new areas of the map, thus improving both the depth of the gameplay and the narrative progression.
Despite being the third opus, Monument Valley does not give the sensation of déjà vu that we find in similar licenses, in particular thanks to skillfully worked puzzles which work to advance the scenario.
A correct lifespan
Launching with ten chapters, the game promises additional content with a clear roadmap for 2025 updates displayed in the chapter selection menu. Clearly, Noor is far from having finished her journey, and that’s a good thing! A little nugget that allows you to unwind in the age of an anxiety-provoking digital world.

Moreover, to attract players, Netflix has integrated Monument Valley and Monument Valley 2 into its catalog. Not stupid.
