Notion, the gem of collaborative tools, continues to broaden its horizons. After revolutionizing note-taking and project management, the startup is tackling a major new challenge: reinventing email. During its first “Make with Notion” user conference, the company unveiled Notion Mail, a next-generation email client. Designed to integrate perfectly with the Notion ecosystem, it promises to shake up our habits and make email smarter and more flexible.
A new generation Mail client
Notion, the star startup of productivity tools, continues to expand its offering. During its first “Make with Notion” user conference, the company lifted the veil on Notion Mail, its highly anticipated email client.
Currently available in preview, Notion Mail is positioned more as a new generation Gmail client than as a traditional email service. The goal is to provide a more flexible messaging experience that is better integrated into user workflows.
An official launch date is not yet known, with Notion only committing to a “soon” rollout. But a waiting list is already open for early access.
AI as the watchword
Notion, which now boasts more than 100 million users, relies heavily on artificial intelligence to stand out. Notion Mail will thus integrate AI functionalities to automate the organization of emails and the management of repetitive tasks such as scheduling appointments.
A system of intelligent filters will allow messages to be sorted and prioritized within each category. Enough to go further than Gmail which only offers this option in the main inbox. Apple’s new AI-powered Mail app really has some concerns to worry about.
Notion Mail will also be closely linked to Notion Calendar, the in-house calendar launched a few months ago. Users will be able to add a scheduling button to their emails, synchronized with their availability.
Towards a complete office suite
In addition to Notion Mail, the startup took advantage of its conference to present other new features. Notion Forms will allow you to design forms and collect information in a Notion database.
Users will also have more freedom to customize the layout of their pages and organize their tasks, notes and documents as they wish. Expanded automation features are also on the cards, like the ability to connect Notion to Gmail to send notifications.
With these announcements, Notion confirms its ambition to build a complete office suite, capable of competing with the behemoths Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. A bold bet for this unicorn valued at $10 billion, which will have to convince users to change their habits. But with its original approach and sense of innovation, Notion has some serious aces up its sleeve. See you in the coming months to find out if his vision will appeal to the general public and businesses.
