As is its annual habit, OnyX quickly became compatible with macOS Sequoia. Less than a week after the release of version 15 of the operating system for Mac, OnyX offered its 4.7.0 update, entirely dedicated to the latest OS. And once again, we are the first to talk about it to our Mac Addicts favorites.
With this update, you have system optimizations, personalized settings or even in-depth cleaning with hundreds of options pushed to the Apple system.
Onyx takes care of macOS 15 Sonoma
If you’ve upgraded to macOS Sequoia and are looking to optimize your Mac’s performance, OnyX 4.7.0 is the tool for you. This free utility, developed by Joël Barrière from Titanium Softwarehas been recognized since 2003 as a reference for Mac maintenance. Version 4.7.0, specially optimized for macOS Sequoia, allows you to perform essential tasks like checking system files, running maintenance, and customizing hidden settings. It provides full control over the operating system without requiring the use of Terminal, the command prompt.
Some of the handy features of OnyX include checking the file system, deep cleaning the disk by eliminating unnecessary files, repairing disk errors, enabling hidden functions, securely deleting unnecessary files, access to hidden applications, the ability to hide folders, activate single application mode (ideal for demonstrations), customize the name and format of screenshots, manage graphic effects, deactivate the sound on startup, change the appearance of Finder and Dock, display hardware information, as well as disable Gatekeeper and App Nap.
After installing Onyx 4.7.0 on macOS, from the Sonoma version, you will need to authorize the software to access full rights on your disk by going to System Preferences > Security and Privacy then allowing the app to have full access to the disk. If you already had Onyx, simply replace the existing app in “Applications”.
This utility is an essential toolkit for anyone who wants to optimize their Mac’s performance and free up disk space. In addition, it is compatible with both Intel Macs and Mac M1 / M2 / M3 and soon M4. Although OnyX is free, users have the option to donate on the site at any time.
Finally, note that version 4.7.1 was published immediately to improve three points:
- Improved Spotlight index rebuild
- Clearing application caches improved
- Improved application history deletion
