Pal Go doesn’t necessarily have what it takes to revolutionize video games, but it has solid arguments to dust off the “tower defense” genre, dominated by titles like Kingdom Rush. With its look influenced by a certain Pokémon, Pal Go is also eyeing Palworld (itself inspired by the Nintendo license). While the latter does not yet have a release date on mobile, Pal Go is taking the opportunity to try to seduce fans with a certain charm.

Discover Pal Go

Concretely, Pal Go is a tower defense game mixing strategy, merges and battles. You play as a monster hunter whose mission is to protect the Acorn Kingdoms against the sorcerer Mazdor and his evil army. By assembling and merging your units, you improve your little beasts to face the forces of darkness in battles as intense as they are strategic. Every position and decision is crucial, as one mistake can cause your defenses to collapse. Beyond the main storyline, the game also offers a PvP mode where you compete against other players to climb the leaderboards and win legendary rewards.

While it is easy to criticize Pal Go for its style or its creatures that look like déjà vu, the game Playwind stands out thanks to tactical gameplay and its mechanics such as fusion which is what allows your creatures to evolve. So, if you intelligently merge the right monsters together, their abilities are strengthened. But the subtlety is that these abilities appear randomly, like in roguelite games. A way to spice up games, alone against the AI or with several people online.

The production is good, full of magic with effects that always hit the mark. We are far from a Palworld or a Miraibo GO for example, but closer to a Plants Vs Zombies. This is what you need to run on all devices, at least those that are no more than six years old.

A game to try

If you are curious, Pal Go worth the detour for its resolutely tactical approach. The only downside is that there are quite a few in-app purchases, but for the moment, we haven’t needed to use them to continue the games.

The fact that it has not advertised on the networks and that it has already exceeded 10,000 downloads on Google Play Store shows some interest from players.

Available now on iPhone, iPad and Android.
