This weekend, Tesla has rolled out a new update to its iPhone app, introducing several features designed to improve convenience and usability for owners. There is the possibility of sending commands without connection, as well as shortcuts in the control center.

Tesla improves orders from the iPhone

Commands can now be sent offline, when you are near the vehicle. Requires version 2024.38 (or later) on vehicle.

The big new thing is obviously the possibility of executing commands offline when you are near the vehicle. This feature, which requires the car to be equipped with software version 2024.38 or later, allows customers to perform actions such as locking the doors or opening the charging port without the need for an active internet connection. This is a big step, especially when you’re in a basement garage.

Tesla integrates into the control center

But that’s not all. Update 4.38 also integrates with iOS 18’s Control Center (CC), allowing users to add their favorite Tesla commands, such as Lock, Climate, Charge Port, Trunk, Flash, Horn, and the strange “Pet” mode, for quick and easy access. We are now waiting for a button to open the rear trunk.

Note that you will have to be very close to the car to execute certain commands such as opening the front trunk. Otherwise, the app will send an error notification asking you to move closer. It is in any case the most important button, given that it is not available in the iPhone app.

How to add Tesla commands to CC?

To add Tesla Shortcuts to your iPhone’s Control Center, swipe down from the top right corner of the screen, touch and hold an empty area to bring up the editing screen, select “Add a control” and scroll down to find “Tesla”.
