In 2025, Apple could finally integrate a blood pressure sensor into the Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3. This feature, awaited by users for several years, would mark a significant advance in the field of wearable health technologies .
A rumor that is struggling to come true
The rumor regarding this feature has persisted for several years without materializing. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reiterates that the upcoming Apple Watch Series 11 could include blood pressure measurement, a complex feature that could finally mature to make its way into Apple’s smartwatch. This would also be the case on Apple Watch Ultra 3.
Be careful, Apple would still make concessions. Unlike traditional blood pressure monitors, this innovation would only measure blood pressure variations and report possible imbalances, rather than providing precise readings. Thus, this would provide a prevention alert, encouraging people to consult a specialist, and not a confirmation alert.
What is blood pressure?
Blood pressure is the force exerted by blood on the artery walls when the heart pumps blood. It is measured in two values: systolic pressure (when the heart contracts) and diastolic pressure (when it relaxes).
Too high blood pressure (hypertension) can damage the arteries, increasing the risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney problems. Too low blood pressure (hypotension) can cause dizziness, fainting or poor blood flow to the organs.
Blood sugar level: the other long-standing rumor
In addition to measuring blood pressure, Apple is developing technology to track blood sugar levels. However, despite persistent rumors, this technology is not yet mature enough to be effectively integrated into the Apple Watch. Once these two features are ready, Apple will truly take the next step in healthcare.
