Tesla has just published the figures for its production and sales for the last quarter and for the year 2024. And the least we can say is that this year has not been good for the company. Elon Musk. Indeed, according to this data, Tesla produced a total of 1,773,443 vehicles in 2024, and delivered 1,789,226. This corresponds to a slight drop compared to 2023 sales. And, above all, as our colleagues note from TechCrunch, this is the first time Tesla’s annual sales have declined.
The Cybertruck does not get off to a flying start
The release of the Cybertruck, its electric pick-up, has not succeeded in reversing the trend. Moreover, the manufacturer does not indicate precisely how many Cybertrucks were sold in 2024. According to its data, Tesla sold 1,704,093 Model 3 and Model Y. As for the “other” models, which includes the Cybertruck, they totaled 85,133 deliveries.
Based on data published by Tesla, our colleagues at Elektrek estimated that the manufacturer probably sold between 9,000 and 12,000 Cybertrucks in the last quarter of 2024 and that these sales would be lower than those of the third quarter. But, as this is only an estimate, caution is still required.
Too early to draw conclusions
Furthermore, it’s probably still too early to draw conclusions about the long-term success of Tesla’s Cybertruck, although the latest data suggests the automaker may be facing a demand problem.
As a reminder, Tesla will present its financial results for the last quarter of 2024 on January 29. We will probably have more details on the manufacturer’s situation, and its plans to return to growth.
