Unveiled in July, the OnePlus Pad 2 is rather promising with its elegant design, its AI features and its very fluid screen. A good reference that we nevertheless find at a contained price: $499 instead of $ 549 on the brand’s website.
On the touchscreen tablet market, alongside the very expensive high-end tablets offered by Samsung or the mid-range models designed by Xiaomi, we now have the OnePlus Pad 2, a new arrival in the Chinese brand’s catalog. And this model has really piqued our curiosity with its rather high-end technical specifications and its very practical AI features. Its other asset? Its price, which does not exceed 500 euros at the moment.
OnePlus Pad 2 Highlights
- A 12.4-inch 3K panel that can go up to 144 Hz
- Many AI options
- A 9,510 mAh battery
Initially priced at 549 euros, the OnePlus Pad 2 tablet is now available on sale for $499 on the OnePlus website.
A screen that promises great fluidity
The OnePlus Pad 2 is a tablet with a particularly sleek design, with fairly thin edges and a screen-to-body ratio of 84.9%. The chassis is made of anodized aluminum, with a Nimbus Gray finish by sandblasting and anodizing, which gives a surface that is very pleasant to the touch and does not pick up fingerprints.
On the screen side, we are entitled to a 12.4-inch LCD panel in 3K (3,000 x 2,120 pixels) which offers good readability. However, if you use the tablet in bright sunlight, the maximum brightness announced of 900 nits on a glossy panel may not be enough to properly read the information on the tablet. The screen is also compatible with Dolby Vision. Let’s not forget the variable refresh rate from 30 Hz to 144 Hz, which should offer excellent fluidity. The OnePlus Stylo 2 stylus promises a sensation close to writing on paper.
Practical AI in everyday life
Performance-wise, the OnePlus Pad 2 packs a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, accompanied by a 903 MHz Adreno 750 GPU, as well as 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM complemented by 256 GB of storage. On paper, this configuration should ensure high-level performance for multitasking and resource-intensive applications, such as demanding 3D games. But what really sets the OnePlus Pad 2 apart from the competition is its suite of AI tools that can greatly simplify various everyday tasks. AI Summary, for example, creates summaries of long documents, while AI Writer generates content from images and text. AI Eraser can remove unwanted objects from photos. Note that most of the tools in this Toolbox will only be available by the end of the year.
Finally, regarding autonomy, the brand promises 43 days of standby time with a 9,510 mAh battery and has not forgotten the SUPERVOOC 67 W fast charge. Enough, according to OnePlus, to go from 0% to 100% battery in 81 minutes.
