Samsung is preparing to return to the field of mixed reality. A massive leak has revealed what its XR helmet, known internally as Project Moohanwith details of hardware, software and even system images. Everything points to an imminent launch in October and a clear strategy: to stand up to Apple and Meta with a lighter product, with better balance and very focused on Android XR.

Beyond the commercial name – it points to “Galaxy XR” – what is relevant is the set: 4K micro-OLED screens, eye and hand tracking, integration with Gemini and a specific processor for mixed reality from Qualcomm. There would also be external battery to relieve weight on the head and control by voice, gestures and controls.

4K screens, Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 and advanced sensors

The leaks talk about 4K micro‑OLED panels with a density that would exceed 4000 dpi, a key leap for sharpness and text reading. The brain would be Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2a chip designed for XR that supports up to 4.3K per eye at 90 Hz and promises better efficiency than previous generations. The device also incorporates eye and hand tracking, color passthrough cameras and spatial audio.

The design would opt for a rigid headband with adjustment wheel and interior padding, plus removable light-blocking panels to minimize reflections. The equipment would include controls in the box – something that many missed in recent competitors -, with autonomy of around two hours of general use and a little more in video.

Android XR with One UI XR: apps from Google and the Galaxy ecosystem

Project Moohan's interface may be what we expected

At the software level, Samsung would adapt Android XR with its own One UI XR layer. In the filtered screenshots, apps from the ecosystem (Camera, Gallery, Browser) appear next to Google Maps, YouTube and Play Storein addition to Netflix. The integration of Gemini As a contextual assistant it would be one of the keys for voice actions, on-screen summaries or hands-free controls. For productivity and leisure, the promise is immersive multi-windowscreen duplication (casting) with Galaxy phones and continuity with tablets and laptops in the house.

Price and Availability: Premium lens, but lighter than the competition

The roadmap places its presentation to mid october and an initial arrival in Korea days later. About him pricesources point to a premium fork that would place it above Meta's headsets and below Apple's headset. If Samsung nails the balance between weight, autonomy and app catalogyou can have a solid start.

An ambitious return to the XR

With this proposal, Samsung seems to be betting on a XR more useful from day one– High-density screens and complete controls. It also offers Android XR with familiar stores and services and a design that drains the battery outside the helmet. If everything is confirmed.

In recent weeks, everything around Samsung has been in constant movement, especially with the alliance with OpenAIand also the presentation of his new ISOCELL HP5 200 MP sensor. Now it seems that the firm had a much more ambitious bet with its virtual reality glasses, which honestly looks very good.
