During the last few weeks, we have been discussing a new product that Apple will launch in 2026and although it is not something super new, it could be a bestseller, especially due to its price, much cheaper than higher ranges, and within everyone's reach.
It is a new MacBook with an iPhone chip, something similar to what we already have with the iPad, but for computers, thus ensuring that anyone who is not looking for the greatest possible power can have a MacBook, without spending the money that one of the current ones costs.
Cheap MacBook in 2026
Apple could launch a MacBook much cheaper than usual. Instead of using its “M” chips, this new model would use a processor like that of the iPhone: the A18 Prowhich could improve over the years, but always in line with this chip, and not the one that the MacBook Air, or Pro, would use that same year.
It is rumored that the screen would be LCD and somewhat smaller (less than 13.6 inches), which would help reduce the price. It could also come in fun colors like silver, blue, pink or yellow, something very common for Apple when it comes to the budget version of any product.
It would not be a laptop for demanding tasks, but for daily use: browsing the internet, writing, watching videos, working with documents… Something that does not require so much muscle. It is said that it will have around 8 GB of memory, enough for the basics.
In addition, it would not have very advanced ports such as Thunderbolt, only normal USB-C, so it would not be perfect for connecting certain very powerful external devices, although we could purchase separate adapters that would facilitate this.
Regarding the price, analysts point out that will cost “well below” $1,000which would make it a very competitive alternative to cheap Chromebooks and Windows laptops. Apple could even manufacture between 5 and 7 million units in 2026, which makes it clear that they are betting heavily on this model (although the same thing happened with the iPhone Air, which did not succeed, which does not mean that it is a safe bet)
Its autonomy, due to a simple processor and a smaller screen, is likely to be very high, being the most important point in favor of the model, which, along with the price, could attract the attention of many people, who do not want to go for something more expensive, but who, because they have an iPhone or other products in the ecosystem, would like to own a MacBook.
In short: it is a “Battle” MacBook, designed for those who want to have an Apple laptop without spending a fortuneand with just the right power for everyday tasks.
And you, do you think it is a good decision? Will it really sell 6 million units? The truth is that, for my part, even to write these lines, it would work for me, so it is not a bad product if you do not need something very powerful oriented to certain jobs, and it could make many people who are looking for something mid-range, and who never thought about having a MacBook, switch to it, so Apple's strategy looks very good, and we will be waiting to see how it turns out.
