It was at the beginning of the year, Apple launched in the United States its long-awaited Vision Pro, a mixed reality headset with the appearance of a space computer, which then opened the way for the American giant to a whole new category of products. . After a mixed reception across the Atlantic, to say the least, the recent launch of the Vision Pro in France and internationally was to constitute a crucial step for the future of the product. However, with its entry ticket set at €3,999 here and interest that is struggling to become known, Apple’s headset is not a success.
Vision Pro production stopped in November?
Deemed too heavy, too bulky, not very durable (in addition to being too expensive), with the added bonus of restricted content and uses which limit its adoption, the Vision Pro is facing less demand than expected. Also, according to various American media, Apple has already decided to reduce production of its headset. Even more radical, the latter could also be stopped during the month of November, to possibly be relaunched later if demand were to explode by surprise. Current stocks would, however, be more than sufficient to cover demands for the months to come, since it is rumored that between 500,000 and 600,000 units would be available.
Apple would not, however, close the door to this new market, since a more affordable model would still be in the pipeline. A “cheaper” Vision Pro could therefore be launched in the more or less near future, with concessions that would be made in terms of the screen in particular, in order to reduce production costs and the final selling price as much as possible. .
For this new model, Apple has reportedly asked its suppliers to produce four million units over the entire life cycle of the product, which represents only half of the Vision Pro’s initial goals. This future “affordable” Vision Pro could also recover numerous components already produced by the American giant’s factories, in order to sell off existing stock.
It remains to be seen what the future of this space computer from Apple will be, which is currently failing to attract buyers. The object, however, tickles the curiosity of many high-tech enthusiasts, as evidenced by the demonstrations available in Apple Stores, but it will undoubtedly be necessary to refine the formula to hope to permanently install a Vision Pro in homes.
