Huawei has presented in China the Mate 70 Aira mobile phone that embraces the “Air” fashion with a clear recipe: 6.6mm body thick, a huge panel and a high-capacity battery that has not been reduced to maintain thickness. It is, in fact, the Thinner Matte to date, but without giving up top-of-the-range specifications.
That translates into a 7 inch OLED screen with resolution 1.5K (2760 x 1320), 120Hz and even 4000 nits maximum brightness (peak), more IP68/IP69 and side fingerprint reader. Inside, the Mate 70 Air combines great autonomy (6500 mAh with 66 W) and Kirin 9020A/9020Btwo variants of the same chip that adjust frequencies according to RAM memory.
Giant screen and huge battery in just 6.6 mm
What is striking about the Mate 70 Air is the balance between thinness and capacity. with only 6.6mmintegrate 6500mAh and boasts a chassis made of aeronautical titanium alloy and ultra-resistant ceramic glass. The panel 7 inches maintains Huawei's trend of offering large display surfaces, with 120Hz for fluidity and 1.5K as a commitment to sharpness without increasing consumption. The result is a mobile phone aimed at multimedia consumption, reading and games, with enough brightness for outdoor use.
In design, the rear module is circular and the brand boasts sealing IP68/IP69an unusual extra resistance in such thin phones. Unlocking is entrusted to a side fingerprint reader and HarmonyOS 5.1 comes standard with its ecosystem of services—without the Google services when importing from China.
Two Kirin 9020 and multispectral sensor cameras
Huawei offers two configurations: 12 GB with Kirin 9020B and 16GB with Kirin 9020A (until 512GB storage). The “A” version offers a slight advantage in frequencies and sustained load management, but the differences are minimal in the day to day. The photograph starts from a 50 MP (1/1.3″) main sensora 12 MP telephoto lens, an 8 MP ultra wide angle lens and a 1.5 MP multispectral sensor to improve the color fidelity. The front camera is 10.7MP.
Price and availability
For now, it is a launch for China with four variants and prices from 4199 yuan (direct conversions: ~546 euros) until 5199 yuan (~676 euros). We have to wait if Huawei decides to internationalize this “Air.” If you consider importing it, remember the software limitations in the West.
An “Air” that does not fall short
The Mate 70 Air proves that being thin does not require cutting on battery, screen or photography. The combination of 6500mAha panel very bright and the extra multispectral sensor They make it especially attractive to those who consume a lot of content and want a slim design. It seems that the brand wants to set an example of what such a thin device is without any sacrifice, especially in the energy section, as is the case in the Galaxy S25 Edgehe iPhone Air and the newcomer Moto Edge 70. We will see what happens in the future. Would you like to see him in Spain with the Google services and a competitive price? We read you in the comments.
