Today, WhatsApp is among the most used and popular instant messaging applications in the world. In fact, more than 2 billion people actively use WhatsApp across the globe and you are probably one of them.
While WhatsApp is an excellent application for communicating, it is not without its flaws. But Meta, its parent company, is aware of this and strives to improve it with new features, added features and updates. Despite everything, for years, a basic functionality was missing: adding contacts directly to WhatsApp. But the day of glory has (finally) arrived.
Adding contacts to WhatsApp is finally here
We’ve all been there: we want to contact a person directly on WhatsApp but they are not in our contacts. This detail can be very painful since it is necessary to add the person to our contacts on our phone, then return to WhatsApp, wait until the application has taken it into account, to be able to (finally ) send our famous initial message. So yes, there are more annoying problems, but it’s still annoying.
Good news, WhatsApp has finally granted all our wishes. In a press release published this Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the application announces that it will soon make it easier to add and manage, privately, our contacts on WhatsApp from any device. Yay!
It is even possible to save contacts only on WhatsApp. Which is practical if you share your phone or manage several WhatsApp accounts, if you are a professional for example. Being able to save your contacts directly on WhatsApp ensures that you will see them restored if you ever lose your smartphone or change it.
Another new feature on WhatsApp? The ability to add contacts by username. This promises better confidentiality since you will no longer have to share your phone number to communicate with someone on the application.
It was about time that WhatsApp got up to date and allowed us (finally) to send messages to users without having to save them from the Contacts application on our smartphone. In its press release, the application speaks of “first step” and promises that she will have more information to share with us when these features are ready. All we have to do is be patient.
