Apple works hard to satisfy all gamers on its platforms. This is why Xbox wired controllers are finally usable on iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia.
A little extra
In today’s gaming news, the main news concerns Xbox and Apple. Now, Xbox wired controllers are compatible with iOS 18 (iPadOS 18) and macOS Sequoia. Nat Brownan engineer at Apple, confirmed this in person via a post on the social network Mastodon. Until now, only wired PlayStation controllers were detected on Apple OS.
For what ? Quite simply because Xbox uses a specific USB protocol on its wired controllers. A protocol now recognized by Apple on the latest versions of iOS and macOS. As wireless Xbox controllers have been compatible for a long time, they are not affected by this news.
Good news for gamers who not only prefer the Xbox controller for its ergonomics, but above all prefer the wired one for reasons of latency and battery. As a reminder, wireless Xbox controllers always run on batteries by default.
Although this is still at a slow pace, this once again demonstrates Apple’s desire to welcome the world of gaming to its home, which has been absent for a long time on the platforms of the bitten apple.
