Apple is currently testing iOS 18.2 in beta. And while waiting for the official release of this operating system update, we are gradually discovering the new features that will be included in it. For example, we already know that iOS 18.2 will introduce new Apple Intelligence features, including the ability to integrate ChatGPT with Siri. On the other hand, we recently discovered that Apple is preparing an update to the Find My app that will allow you to share the location of a lost AirTag with a third party. And recently, the site 9to5Mac discovered a feature called “BatteryIntelligence” which would be under development.
This feature is not yet available in the iOS 18.2 beta. However, it was allegedly discovered in Apple’s code. In essence, BatteryIntelligence would be a new framework from Apple that would be able to calculate the estimated charging time of the device. According to 9to5Mac’s explanations, a new option would allow the user to receive a notification indicating the time remaining to reach 80% battery, for example.
But for now, caution is required. Indeed, as the functionality does not yet appear on the beta version of iOS 18.2, it is possible that it will not be included in the update. But it is also possible that this is a feature in development that will be available on another version of the operating system.
A useful everyday feature
Charging speed remains one of the main weak points of the iPhone today. With its charging mechanism, an iPhone 16 Pro can only charge to 50% after 30 minutes. However, among certain Chinese brands, you can find smartphones capable of charging to 100% in less than 30 minutes.
At least with this charging time estimate, iPhone users will be able to know exactly when they can unplug their devices. In addition, the estimates that will be displayed by Apple will allow users to know if they need to change cable or charger case, to have a slightly faster recharge.
