Remedy Entertainment has just announced the arrival of its popular action-adventure game Control Ultimate Edition on macOS. This release, scheduled for February 12, 2025, marks a new stage in Apple’s gaming strategy with its Silicon chips.
A full version optimized for Mac
Control Ultimate Edition will be priced at €39.99 on the Mac App Store and will include the base game as well as all additional content released since its initial launch in 2019. This edition will require a Mac equipped with an Apple chip Silicon (from M1) and macOS Sonoma minimum.
The game, which has received no less than 80 awards since its release, will particularly highlight the ray-tracing capabilities of Apple’s new M4 chips. With a size of 28.5 GB, this version promises to fully exploit the performance of modern Macs.
A flagship title for Mac gaming
In Control, players take on the role of Jesse Faden, the new director of the mysterious Federal Bureau of Control in New York. The game takes place in a building with changing architecture where paranormal phenomena and objects with supernatural powers coexist, such as a sentient gun or a murderous refrigerator.

This release is part of Apple’s desire to position its Macs as credible gaming machines. After the initial announcement at WWDC 2024, the arrival of Control, with its demanding gameplay and impressive graphics, could convince other major developers to port their titles to macOS.
For Apple Silicon Mac owners, pre-orders are already open on the Mac App Store. Note that the game could also be available on Steam, where it is regularly offered at more advantageous prices during sales.
