If you are thinking about starting to renew your equipment, and get started in the Apple ecosystemyou may think that everything is very expensive (and it is), however, to be able to deduce whether it is worth it or not, you have to take into account the duration of each piece of equipment, since it will not be the same to pay 1,000 euros for a computer that lasts 3 years, than 8 years.
Today I am going to give you my experience with each of the products that I have, and how long it takes to renew them, so that you can have an estimate of their useful life, although, as I tell you, I am usually in a hurry, and they could really be used more.
Lifespan of each Apple product
I am going to tell you how long each of the devices I have lasts for me, so I will not comment on those that, despite being popular, like the iPad, I do not own, since I want to give you my personal experience, and not estimate it without have had them.
- iPhone: Starting with the jewel in the crown, the iPhone is the brand’s best-selling device, and although the model must be taken into account, as a general rule, I usually make the change after 3 years, despite the fact that with a battery change , the phone could easily last 2 more years, so we could say that, depending on whether you want to renew it, or just spend the money on a new battery, it would last you between 3 and 5 years at maximum level.
- MacBook Air: The lifespan of these computers is longer than that of mobile devices. In my case, the first of them, a 2014 Mac, lasted me 6 years, and I sold it in very acceptable conditions. At that time, I acquired a 2020 Mac M1, which is more than 4 years old and continues as the first day, and I don’t take very good care of its battery, and I use it daily to work. Therefore, we could estimate that its useful life (using it a lot) is more than 6 yearswhich can reach 10 if we take good care of it or don’t use it every day.
- AirPods: With these devices we will have to be cautious, since they depend, for the most part, on the battery, which has a useful life that will degrade depending on the use we give it, since a person who listens to music for 4 hours a day is not the same. day every day, to someone who only uses it on the weekends. In any case, from my experience, I replaced both models (AirPods 1 and AirPods 2) with almost 4 years of lifeso that would be, for me, its maximum.
- Apple Watch: Assuming, as in my case, that we use it every day, counting its battery degradation, the Apple Watch has a life of 4 yearsbeing able to extend it if we do not use it for sports or activities with GPS and data, because it would arrive at the end of the day, even though we already notice that it lasts less. In this case, like the iPhone, we could change the battery, but it would not be profitable.
