We have all sent a photo on WhatsApp that, at first, seemed very nice, but once opened in the messaging app, things change, and by default, Meta reduces the quality of the sending, compressing them, so that they take up less space and we use less data when sending them.
However, this is somewhat frustrating, since the photo quality It is almost the same on a 1,000 euro iPhone as on a 200 euro Android, due to this function. But don't worry, it can be deactivated, sending that image or video in the real resolution, so that you can see it much better.
How to send HD images on WhatsApp
This option must be active on your iPhone, since, otherwise, and natively, these will be compressed, as we mentioned, which is ideal for files of little importance, since they will take up less space, they will be sent sooner, and we will not spend as much data nor need as much coverage or speed.
However, this changes if we want to send a photo of a trip to some friends, since we all want them in good quality, to upload to social networks or send again, without losing resolution in every step we take. To do this, previously we used AirDrop, email or other methods in which we could send the entire file, although now it is possible with WhatsApp, or at least without losing so much quality.
To do this, as we can see in the image, we will have to go to the Settings > Storage and data > File upload quality > select HD Quality.
Once this is done, the elements sent will have a much better resolution, as well as a greater weight. However, only other people will receive it, that is, we will not be able to download the photos sent to us in this format if the other person does not also have it configured, so it is a good way to transfer files in HD, but not to receive them.
If we only want to do this to send a certain type of photos at a specific time, we can enable it, send them, and then do the opposite step, avoiding excessive data consumption, because as we can read in the WhatsApp notes, these files They could weigh 6 times moreThat is, a video could go from 40 MB to 240 MB, which means much greater consumption for both the person who sends it and the person who has to download it.

Another option would be to send the files as documents, or even in a compressed (zip) folder. With this, the other person will have everything as if it were original, or you had sent it to them through the cloud, a pendrive, etc., that is, without loss of quality or compression. It is more tedious, but for many files or forwarding to more people, it is another way to do it to take into account.
And you, are you one of those who continues sending photos anyway? The truth is that it is quite annoying that someone takes the photograph with the best mobile phone of all, and then sends them back in low quality, since we would not have gained anything from it, right? Now you know the way.
