After a year of waiting, we already have the Next version of iOSas well as the rest of the company’s operating systems, that is, macOS, watchos, etc. His name has been a surprise that we had been announcing for many days, although their internal changes are the ones that interest us.
Beta can be installed from now on, although we do not recommend doing so if you do not have a secondary iPhone, because you could have errors that affected your main phone. We will try it and tell you how it is, so you can have an opinion without risking.
IOS 26 characteristics
This year we have seen many novelties, although they are small, but all of them important, and due to the amount, we will see an iOS very different from the one we are used to. Summarized, they are the following:
- New unified design: Apple speaks of a new design for several years, the beginning of a new style that will mark the following versions, a change that was not seen from iOS 7 and that will have all the systems, making experience more similar use an iPhone, a Mac, or an iPad, for example.
- Crystal mode: Within the designs, we will have a new one, called glass, quite curious and that we will have to do thoroughly, but that completely changes the current, much more modern.
- 3D images: Both on the lock screen, as in other apps and Apple Music, you can see photographs in 3 dimensions, without the need to perform them in a special way, but that the system itself will make the effect, so that it is visually better.
- Camera app: Redesign of the native camera application, much simpler, with only 2 buttons (video and photo), and within this we can select many more options, that is, more simplified
- Safari, Facetime, Carplay and other apps: They will use that glass design, with transparencies and much more aesthetic, without changes in functionalities (except some brushstrokes in Carplay), but to design, in which most of them focus.
- Live translation: When you send a message to another person, it will appear in a translated way, to be able to maintain a conversion with someone you do not understand, without having to copy the messages and look for it manually. Similarly, in a call, you will ask you if you want to translate, since it will detect that it is from another country and that you may not understand.
- Apple Music: It will also have a similar function, indicating the translation of the letter, as well as the pronunciation in the original language, in case you want to sing it correctly.
- Maps: The maps app will take your usual routes, and if you notice that there is a lot of traffic or some problem, it will give you alternatives in the form of notification, so that you can take into account this possible inconvenience. That is, if every day you go to 8 at 8 am and go on the same side, if one day, for whatever conditions, there is a shorter route, it will tell you.
- New gaming app: As we had announced, the games will stop being in the App Store, focusing on a new store, divided from the current one, being more comfortable to find them and have everything organized.
In the same way, they have taught as in applications such as “messages” we can change the funds or filter more complex (separating the new senders), the call app is smarter and will give you a summary of the message you have received in the answering machine (if you have), or how to mix several emojis to create your own and more personal.
Regarding the rest of the systems, we will analyze them more thoroughly with the betas, but their main changes are in relation to those seen in iOS, with new design, icons, and functions that will share among all the systems, hence their unification in name 26, and not only for comfort.
As personal opinion, we will have a Great aesthetic changehowever, at the tools level, it will be very simple, with very specific improvements. Let’s wait to see if over time, new versions such as iOS 26.1 focus on improvements, because if everything works well, we would have everything in the first one.
