Customers who receive the new iMac, Mac mini, or MacBook Pro equipped with the M4 chip on Friday, November 8 will need to update their device to macOS Sequoia 15.1 to enable the new Apple Intelligence features. At least those who want to use it in English (see our tutorial for activating Apple Intelligence). The others, like the French, will have to wait until April 2025.

Already an update

By default, the new M4 models will come with macOS Sequoia 15.0, without Apple Intelligence, which includes writing tools, the new version of Siri, intelligent replies, summaries, photo editing, souvenir movies and much more Again.

M4 Macs are entitled to a specific update to macOS 15.1 Sequoia

Updating to macOS Sequoia 15.1 (build number 24B2083) will unlock these features. For users transferring data from a device already running Sequoia 15.1, an update will also be required during the setup process.

In addition to Apple Intelligence features, macOS Sequoia 15.1 introduces the drag-and-drop function with iPhone mirroring and activates the hearing health features of AirPods Pro 2. But again, the French are not concerned, the firm not having had the equivalent of FDA approval in Europe, the European Medicines Agency.

In any case, coming back to the new Macs, the Mac mini M4 particularly impressed us with an ultra compact design for top performance at a great price.
