In the absence of a few weeks to prove the definitive iOS 26 versionwe already have some beta that shows us the result, at least aesthetic, of this new update, which, as every year, brings news, to a greater or lesser extent, with respect to the previous one.
However, despite the fact that, regarding design, we will see a great change, I do not believe that many users care, at least if the rest of functions and performance does not improve, because even many, that “Liquid Glass”, as Apple calls it, seems quite horrendous.
What will iOS 26 really bring?
And, with iOS 18, Apple put honey on our lips, since it told us about very interesting functions, design changes, an advanced Apple Intelligence, etc., and, although they could not fulfill deadlines, and we expected more, at least we had that illusion, something that we will not even see with iOS 26, because it focuses, mainly, on the design.
And the problem of all this, is not that we do not have interesting new tools or functions, but that, such a change, also adapted not only to several years of iPhone versions, but also to other systems such as macOS, ipados, etc., to be able to unify many things, it makes their performance, as well as possible failures, battery consumption, etc., is much worse during the first versions, until, with the help of the problems that users report, users report it.
In summary, in my opinion, we will have a more unstable system, but with a design that, according to them, is much more cool, and that not everyone shares, as is obvious, without the possibility of returning to the previous one, since staying in iOS 18 is not an option, especially for compatibility of apps and games, and, above all, security, since we must have the latest version if we want to not take risks.
For now we will have to wait, and according to filters like Gurman, they may still be 2 big surprises in iOS 26and that they would not have to do with design (or so we hope), so there is faith in which they have learned last year, and they will incorporate new functions and improvements, but without rushing to say them, and then do not meet deadlines, so they could now have opted for the reverse strategy.
Therefore, it will be necessary to see if this new strategy is fine or ends up being a new stumble. Because in the end, most do not want an “prettier” iPhone, but one that works well, that does not consume battery as crazy and does not hang when you open an app. If iOS 26 meets that, the redesign will be just an extra. But if it does not, it does not matter how modern it may seem, it will leave a bad taste. Apple no longer plays with the same advantage as before, and users have less and less patience. This time, it is time to do well, without excuses.
