For now, there are not many Latin countries that have it available, despite the fact that in Spain we have been using it for years, so it is good news for them, to which, from today, another one is included, which tells us the list will soon follow.
Apple Pay is officially launched in Paraguay
The news, which was confirmed by Mastercard, enables users in Paraguay to use Apple Pay associated with clients of the country’s main banks (Banco Continental, Itaú and Ueno Bank).
The leader of Mastercard in the country commented the following:
We are delighted to work with our issuers to bring the ease, security and privacy of Apple Pay to consumers in Paraguay. This launch reinforces Mastercard’s commitment to providing innovative solutions so people choose how they want to pay
This country joins those that already have this service in Latin America, which would be: Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Colombia. This would expand to more than 80 countries around the world with Apple Pay available, which can not only be added to the iPhone, as we well know, but also to other devices such as the Apple Watch, achieving even greater convenience when making payments. payments or forgetting about our physical wallet.
If you do not belong to one of the main banks, you will have to wait, since they will surely associate themselves quickly with the program so as not to lose clients, since once you arrive in the country, the association is much easier.
The same thing happens with other countries on the continent, which will not want to be left behind, and we hope that everyone can enjoy it in 2025, since it is a very comfortable tool that everyone should be able to use. Apple is making a lot of progress on this, so it shouldn’t take long. Austria, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Romania and Sweden already have Tap To Pay, the service to charge as if the iPhone were a dataphone.
It is true that, to use this technology, contactless dataphones are needed (or the service we just mentioned), which, without Apple Pay and similar technologies, means that many establishments lack it, so we will have to be patient for them to adapt. In Spain, for example, it is very rare to see one without NFC, and I would say that it has not happened to me for years, so we could say that payment with Apple Pay is accepted anywhere, and that offers you many guarantees if you do not have physical money.
And you, are you one of those who will continue using your coins, or does this news leave you impatient to be able to try the service as soon as possible? Leave us a comment if you are from Paraguay, if you have already added a card, or, on the contrary, if you are from a place where Apple Pay has not yet arrived and you would like it to be enabled as soon as possible.
